HPIN 107 Communications and Reporting
The most frequent cause of disagreement between home inspectors and their clients is a failure in communication. Often this failure is directly linked to poor inspection reporting. Clearly good reporting is key to a successful inspection career.
HPIN 108 BC Building Code
Basic House Inspection education does not typically include an introduction to Part 9 or 10 of the BC Building Code. However, the introduction is required by ASTTBC and provides valuable insight into "why things are done". Also included is an introduction to the new "BC Energy and Zero Carbon Step Codes" and the basics of the Canadian Electrical Code (as applied to BC).
HPIN 109 Inspection "Virtual Lab"
To be qualified to do house inspections a minimum level of practical experience is required. This course is a "virtual lab" introducing the inspection process and provides an opportunity to develop report writing skills - something evey inspector must do well to be successful.

Many prospective inspectors are reluctant to jump straight into an inspection education program where there is a significant upfront financial commitment. Others are just interested in a specific inspection topic for their own general interest.
To give prospective students and others an opportunity to "test drive" our courses, individual modules from within courses will be available fall 2026 for purchase at a reasonable cost.
For example, if you want to know how Air Conditioning and/or Heat Pumps work - simply buy that module.

To complete a module for Licensing credit in the Fundamentals of Home Inspection Program with WPPII will require an exam to be written through WPPII, AND will require participation in scheduled online webinars/study sessions offered by WPPII as mandated by Consumer Protection BC (CPBC).
Those who complete at least 1 of the first 8 modules (HPIN 104 or HPIN 105) for Licensing credit may then opt into the completion of the rest of the modules in the Fundamentals of Home Inspection Licensing Tiers at a reasonable cost and proceed on to Licensing.
Coming Soon:
A range of short online courses aimed at Professional Inspectors and based on requests from the inspection community including both the inspectors and their clients.
Building is different in BC compared to, say Ontario or Florida, because of issues like climate, which varies widely across the province, seismic activity, etc. Our licensing requirements are also unique. And, long gone are the days of a simple "visual" inspection.
